NEW FEATURED ARTIST
Burt Morey
“I am Burt Morey. My passion, besides my family, is photography. As you can see from the photo to the left, I have been interested in photography for quite a while. I backed away some to pursue a civil engineering career but I am now at a point where I am able to spend more time behind the camera. I come by this naturally, my father and grandfather were both photographers. I especially enjoy sharing what I have observed in the outdoors with others by way of my photographs. Now that our kids are grownups, mostly, my wife and I have more opportunities to travel, and I always have a camera ready. As I said, I really enjoy sharing what I have observed with others who may not have had the opportunity to see for themselves.”
You can Burt at bmorey1@sbcglobal.net to see other photos.

Herbert Friedson
Herbert “Herb” Friedson was born in 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio. In high school, Mr. Friedson was fortunate to have an art teacher who saw something special in him. Though enamel work wasn’t taught at his high school they did have a kiln for firing glass powder onto a copper base. His teacher spent many hours over the course of several weeks teaching him the art and technique of enameling and thus a great artist was made.
Following high school, Mr. Friedson studied enameling at the Cleveland Institute of Art under Kenneth F. Bates, the preeminent leader of the American enameling field, from 1955 to 1958.
After receiving his B.F.A. in 1958, Mr. Friedson moved to New York where he worked as a textile design consultant from 1960 to 1964.
In 1965 he moved to Lawrence, Kansas to pursue his M.F.A. at the University of Kansas and was awarded his degree in 1967. Upon graduation, he was invited to teach jewelry, metals, and freshman design at K.U. and remained there until 1974 when he decided to leave teaching and focus on his artwork.
Mr. Friedson’s enamels have been featured in many important regional and national exhibitions including the Cleveland Museum of Art’s ‘May Show,’ the Everson’s ‘Ceramic National,’ and the Wichita Art Association’s annual ‘Decorative Arts and Ceramics Exhibition.’

Janey Greene
After retiring from teaching first grade for 21 years at Pinckney School in Lawrence, I decided to pursue a lifelong interest in art. I had dabbled in charcoal drawing, batik and jewelry making, but painting has opened a whole new world. For me, it is a form of not only self-expression, but also communication and connection with others. It is very rewarding when clients tell me that my work is relatable.
I choose to work with acrylic paint because of the vibrant colors it offers. Movement, shape, and texture are elements of my work. Many of my pieces also have a sense of whimsy. I work from my home studio, Off the Wall Art, in Baldwin City, Kansas.
Thank you,
Janey Greene
